NATURE  PARK  UPDATE

The petition, with 326 signatures, was delivered to the Everett School Board at a regularly scheduled meeting on May 18th. The Steering Committee will work toward having this item included on the agenda at a regular Board meeting as soon as possible. We have an appointment to present a copy of the petition  to the appropriate Snohomish County officials at 10:30 AM. May 26th. Thank you to all who took the time to read and sign this petition.

Your Steering Committee is working to achieve the following:

Phase 1    Nature Park

  • Everett School District and Snohomish County Parks Dept. coming together to create a nature park.
  • The Nature Park can be used by the Everett School Dist. and the public.
  • Volunteers can assist in the development of the Nature Park.
  • The Audubon Society and other organizations can also contribute to the development of the park.

Phase 2    The community

  • Eventually the citizens would like the Nature Park to come under the permanent  ownership of the Snohomish County Parks Dept. and be maintained as naturally as possible.

 Phase 3   Future plans

  • The Eastmont area should re-organize/organize a neighborhood group in order to take action if future issues arise.  This current effort to convert this property to a Nature Park is not new.  It was initiated over 30 years ago by the former Eastcrest Hills Community Club.
